Gwynne returns to work this morning. Greg and I go to have lunch with his Mom at Garden Spot. They really do have a nice selection of food to choose from and we go to The Harvest Table again.
We deliver the braided pipe-cleaners that Eloise made for her Great Grandma and share some photos of Valerie's family and other stops in Maine. (I really need to learn to wear scarves like she does!)
The grounds of Garden Spot look great, with lots of mums everywhere. Mom has some artificial ones in her apartment that are really striking! I had to touch them to see whether they were real! Gwynne is on a waiting list to move here also, although the waiting time is approximately 5 years!
After lunch, we say good-bye, and head south toward our friends' new house in Delaware. Scott & Cathy Johnson (no relation) are friends from college, and Greg also played football at Cumberland Valley Highschool with Scott in Campbell, PA. They moved here from Maryland in May. The address is Frankford, but they are very near Bethany Beach which is a great beach town, quieter than Rehobeth which is a bit to the north.
Their new house is in a lovely new development, with continuing construction. It is a mix of young families, retirement age folks and some in between, but it sounds like there are quite a few retirees. Delaware is known for its favorable tax policies and no sales tax. Yard maintenance is included in their fees, as is a great clubhouse facility.
They have done a wonderful job of decorating, very light and bright with a seaside theme. Kind of minimalist too. We love these glass starfish of which they have several.
We go out for dinner at Catch 54, a seafood restaurant overlooking the bay in nearby Fenwick Island. Excellent food and we enjoy catching up on family, grandkids, etc. and learning about their new place. This was the view from the restaurant.
Back at the house, we enjoy a nice sunset from their screened back porch and a good night's rest in their lovely guest room.

After the beach we stop by Fisher's Popcorn to get some of their special Pumpkin Spice popcorn.
This is THE place to go in this area, and the popcorn is quite tasty. Scott & Cathy have been "Boo-zed" - in which someone left a package at their door with wine, 2 beers, cookies and some other treats. They, in turn, are supposed to "Booze" two neighbors. Once you've been boozed, you leave a sign on your door so that it doesn't happen again and the giving continues. What a neat idea, obviously for adults. They are getting some popcorn to include in their package.
