Saturday-Sunday October 21-22, 2023 North Reading/Painting/Brain Tumor Walk

 Saturday, October 21

A relaxing day at Brett & Dave's, beginning with blueberry pancakes and bacon.

Tomorrow is the annual Boston Brain Tumor Walk, so we went through all of Brett & Dave's paraphernalia from past years and put together materials to take tomorrow.  We'll all be wearing our orange and the weather is supposed to be pretty nice - no rain at least!  We all remember the cold, rainy years.

Mom couldn't travel to be here, but she donned all of her orange for a photo that we'll carry with us.

Tonight is a fundraiser at Brett & Dave's church - a Sip and Paint event that will bring out our inner artist - or not😁.

Dave putting things together.

We go early to help set up food, easels, paint, etc.   Nice charcuterie board and other goodies provided by Brett and Dave, as well as wines and punch.  An artist parishoner, Karen Keough, is volunteering her time to lead us.  Dave has put together some raffles, as well.

Fun time.  Anyone up for purchasing a "masterpiece"?

Sunday, October 22

We rise early for a light breakfast and head for Boston and the Brain Tumor Walk.

We set up a tent and table for Team Oligo on the grounds where there are numerous groups doing the same.

Nice to see some familiar faces from years past and some new folks as well.

Here's a photo of most of Team Oligo - Brett's team supports research for those with oligodendrogliomas, while other groups doing the walk support other types.  Unfortunately there are many.

It's a 5K which goes along the water for part of the way. Lots of walkers, many with dogs. Glad that we have good weather - a bit chilly for us Texans, but it warms up as things get moving.

After the walk, Garth (Greg's other brother) & Kathy and a friend from Indiana come back to the house and Brett orders pizza. Nice visit, then we all nap, pack, read and do whatever.  Brett has gotten a substitute for Sunday services today.
