Monday, Sept 5, 2022 Vedauwoo and Andale Rapido

 Sept 5, Monday

Happy Labor Day!

Anita and Kevin arrived around noon today.  Tim has graciously allowed them to stay here as well.  They unpacked and showered and after a hot dog lunch, we head over to Vedauwoo Recreation Area.

On the way, we stop at this statue of Lincoln along route 80.   This area has numerous snow fences and being the highest area along route 80 at 8,640', it needs them. Notoriously windy, this part of the highway closes in really bad winter weather.  The Lincoln statue is here because this used to be a part of Hwy 30 - the Lincoln Highway - which stretches from New York to San Francisco.

We find the Vedauwoo Recreation Area and do a bit of walking, looking at rocks (plenty of them!) and watching some climbers. Huge piles of boulders!

We sit outside at Tim's for a while afterwards and chat.  Tim provides some adult beverage - including this beer called Moose Drool!

We treat everyone to Dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Andale Rapido, which both Tim and Tom & Sue highly recommended.   A popular spot with great food!  Tim, who was county commissioner for a dozen or so years and has lived here forever knows many of the folks.

My dish was spinach and chicken and mushrooms with cheese - delicioso!
