Sunday, September 15th

Left Gwynne's and West Chester Friday morning and traveled to SEI Investment Co. for a brief tour. of the place most of our savings call home, in Oaks, PA.  Nice tour, then headed up 422 on way to York.

About 9 miles before Reading, we came across signs for Daniel Boone's homestead and decided to stop.  It was a beautiful park where he lived for the first 15 years of his life. Original stone house and barn, plus a blacksmith shop and saw mill and a few other small buildings. Learned some history in the visitor's center and spent an hour or so walking around the property.  Lovely.

Next stop was The Green Dragon near Ephrata, a huge indoor/outdoor market with a definite PA Dutch bend.  Produce, crafts, meats, candies, clothes, you-name-it. Pickles, Pretzels, Scraple, Red Beet Eggs, Noodles, etc.

Arrived at the York Fair Grounds around 3:30 and met Anita.  Last time I'd been there was about 1965!  It hasn't changed THAT much....  still lots of animals - we saw a goat being born, - canned goods, cakes and other contests, lots of rides including the old Tilt-A-Whirl, Ferris Wheels, Merry-go-rounds, etc.  Still candy apples, cotton candy, corn dogs and funnel cakes.

Spent the evening catching up with Kevin and Anita, including dinner at Warehouse Gourmet in Hanover.....

Saturday morning we went to a nearby park and hiked a trail with Armani, their lab.  Nice weather, just a hint of Fall.

Our niece Vanessa joined us for an afternoon jaunt to the Adam's County/Gettysburg Winery Harvest Festival,  where we enjoyed gorgeous weather, wine tasting, a band called Toad Road, and lounging on the lawn.  We also stopped at The Round Barn, an amazing 1914 barn which now is a produce store.
