 April 21  Olympic National Park

Greg got up early and got the fire going again. It was 46 degrees, then the fog/mist rolled in and temperature dropped for an hour or so, followed by intermittent sunshine and warmer temps by 8:15 or so when Beth climbed out of bed.

We went for a walk, then returned and had breakfast and broke camp about 9:30.
Bounced back out the gravel road and finished circling the lake – very dense woods so saw only glimpses of the 4-mile long lake. Nice to see some sunshine!
The sun didn't last, as we went north to Ruby Beach which was chilly and windy but beautiful.  Lots of sea stacks and cool rocks.  We picked up a few stones, along with a cool piece of driftwood.  Frequent signs warn folks to watch for logs in the surf, we didn't see any come in but there were loads on the beach from past storms.

Buried log whose holes were filled with rocks.

We stopped at the town of Forks, which is the setting for the Twilight series of Vampire books.  Lady at the welcome center said they get people from all over the world due to the Twilight connection. Watching for Bigfoot, now have to add Vampires?

The area is also well known for logging. as this memorial is dedicated to those who lost their lives.
Moss really does grow on everything around here! I feel like if we stay still for too long it could cover us as well!

Used the local library again and Beth took care of some computer stuff while Greg did exercises.  We have decided to head for Rialto Beach tomorrow for low tide at 10AM, so we head that way and spend the night at nearby Mora National Campground.  Chat with a couple from Idaho who have done volunteering in parks for a while.  There is a group here from a school also, but they are not near and all we see are a few walkers and their school bus. Nice camp site.

Greg gets another fire going and we have a quiet night.
