Tuesday, February 18
38 degrees at 7 AM. Tom made a great breakfast of ham, eggs,
fruit and toast. Then Chap and Mam and
Greg and I departed. We may catch up
with Chap and Mam again in Houston.
We headed into Tucson and then north for the Salt River area and Roosevelt Lake.
Tonto National Forest. Lots of saguaro and other cacti on the way. .
Stopped at a couple of nice areas by the lake and a “diversion dam”, and after talking to some rangers we headed north of the lake to a small camping area called Flowing Springs. Nice stream close by. We were the only campers. Went for a walk, then Greg built a fire and I fixed dinner – chinese seafood dumplings and potato soup
Temperature was 71 at noon but cooled off quickly.
