May 19, 2016 Travel Day
We catch our shuttle in front of the apartment about 5:30AM and are dropped at the terminal about 6:00 for an 8:30 flight. Security goes smoothly and lines are not long. We are flying on Vueling Airlines to Madrid.
We arrive in Madrid and thankfully American is at the same terminal, though there are 4. We pick up luggage and check in again, followed by security. The flight leaves on time and we have a 9 hour ride to Charlotte. Greg is by the window and takes a few pictures. Fortunately the flight is not full, so we can spread out a bit. We watch several movies and try to get a little sleep.
We have to retrieve our luggage again to go through Customs in Charlotte. No problems and we grab a quick bite while we wait at the gate for our flight to Houston. We have a bit of delay landing in Houston as our gate is occupied. Apparently there were some serious weather delays earlier. Luggage arrives with us and our neighbor Cheri picks us up for the ride home.
Home again at about 9:30PM. Our own bed feels wonderful.
